Model-Free Optimal Control of Inverter for Dynamic Voltage Support

Inverter-based resources (IBRs) are required to provide dynamic voltage support (DVS) during dips enhance the low-voltage ride-through capability. In this paper, a model-free control method is developed achieve optimal DVS (ODVS) without relying on knowledge of grid parameters. Delving into optimum trajectory ODVS problem, it found that current constraint and maximum active power IBRs both binding, or one them binding. This inspires us search for in closed-loop way by perturb-and-observe (P&O)-based seeking (OS) controller with either factor angle reactive being manipulated (perturbed) variable. The system guaranteed converge asymptotically provided stepsize sequence diminishing non-summable. proposed finally implemented within single-stage photovoltaic (PV) system, where simulations demonstrate fast performance. Moreover, implementation strategy other types not self-protected nature also discussed.
